Our Team

Dr. Shimi Kang
Co-Founder & CEO
Dr. Shimi Kang is an award-winning researcher, and leading expert on the neuroscience of innovation, connection, and resilience, Dr. Shimi Kang is the CEO & Founder of Future-ready Minds. Dr. Kang is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia where she researches and teaches on topics of mental health, wellness and motivation.

She is the author of the #1 Best-seller of The Dolphin Parent, the critically acclaimed, Tech Solution: Healthy Habits for a Digital World, and The Self- Motivated Kid - the winner of the US News International Book Award. Dr. Kang has helped countless children, youth and adults move towards the key 21st century skills of CQ – creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and contribution.

She is the recipient of the YWCA Women of Distinction Award, WXN Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women Award, the Governor General’s Award for Leadership, and the Jubilee Medal for community service. Dr. Shimi Kang is most proud of being a mom of 3 awesome yet exhausting children.
Dalerina D'Silva
Program Director
Dalerina believes in a holistic approach to health and wellness and that educating young minds and families is key to building a solid foundation for a healthy and thriving future.

As the Program Director for Future-ready minds, Dalerina oversees planning, coordination and facilitation of various programs such as parenting seminars, in-class “field trips”, professional development workshops, after school programs, and summer camps across several schools and universities in BC.

Dalerina is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (Canadian School of Natural Nutrition), a Masters of Biochemistry (Mumbai University,India) and a Human Resource Management certificate (Simon Fraser University).

She brings over 10 years of experience working with teams and organizations that deliver versatile programs to multiple demographics within the health and wellness realm.
Elyse Cochrane
Curriculum Developer, EF coach and Presenter
Elyse Cochrane is an education professional with training in social-emotional learning, executive functioning, educational technology and learning design. She seeks to equip children, youth, and teens with a life skills toolkit that sparks resiliency, adaptability, self-awareness and critical thinking.

Her work has been instrumental in the conception and development of Future-ready minds and she has been mentored by Dr. Shimi Kang for 7+ yearsElyse is a Masters of Educational Technology & Learning Design (Simon Fraser University),Bachelor of Education and Arts (Brock University), an Executive Functioning Level 1 & 2 coach (Fraser Academy) and brings over 10 years of experience as a K-12 teacher.
Lily Jiang
Mandarin speaking Presenter, Family relationship and Life skills coach
Lily believes that a positive family relationship is the key to our growth, mental well-being and resilience. Lily and her husband, Simon, have raised three wonderful sons together. With solid hands-on experience, Lily has been offering parenting workshops in schools and educational centres since 2017 and also provides one on one coaching, customized to her clients’ needs. In 2020, Lily received the Vancouver Quadra’s Hidden Hero Award for her outstanding contribution to the community.

Lily was an English Instructor at Guangdong University of Industry and Technology in China.  She then worked as an Employment Consultant presenting workshops to new immigrants on settlement, job search and life skill topics at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in Vancouver. In 2017, she transitioned to becoming a family relationship and life skills coach. She has been mentored by Dr. Shimi Kang for more than six years.
